Skin Check Services in Tamworth
Dr Edward Or practices medicine primarily in general practice and has a special interest in diagnosing and treating melanoma and skin cancer. He is a qualified Procedural GP (surgery) performing a weekly theatre list for surgical procedures in Inverell (endoscopic and some general surgery) over the past 15 years. Most surgical procedures on skin cancers are performed at the medical practice in Marius Street.
There is a fee for the full body skin cancer check or a spot check, however, all biopsies are bulk billed. Once the histology has returned from the pathology laboratory, Dr Or, or his nurse will contact you to advise you of the result and the next part of the process for treatment. You will be advised of the fee for the procedure during this discussion. On the day of the procedure you will be given a Cost Agreement to sign acknowledging the conversation regarding the fee and the treatment process. Occasionally, some patients will require more than one operation to clear a skin cancer and the appropriate steps will be taken.

If a skin cancer requires excision Dr Or will discuss treatment options and the operation fee with you and all histology follow up is fee free. All patients are given the option to go to their GP for suture removal or you can return to us to have this done. There is no charge for reviews or dressing changes if needed. We offer afterhours contact for all patients who have undergone a surgical procedure.
Dr Or is a highly skilled surgeon and well qualified to operate on melanoma and skin cancer. We do not refer patients to other surgeons for a procedure if Dr Or is capable of performing the procedure himself. This will be up to the patient to contact their own GP to obtain further advise, information or referral. Please refer to our policy regarding ownership of medical records and results.
